Conditions for Admission
Safety is the top priority at the Summit County Fair. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for all visitors. County Fair management reserves the right to refuse admission or eject any person violating facility, local, state or federal laws or whose conduct is deemed illegal, disorderly or offensive.
The safety and security of Fairgoers remains a priority at the Summit County Fair. With this standard of uncompromised safety in mind, Summit County Fair officials are introducing this enhancement to existing protocols.
Code of Conduct
All fairgoers are expected to follow ALL safety policies and guest code of conduct, including:
- Visitors entering the Fairgrounds will be screened through metal detectors at entry gates.
- Weapons are prohibited at the Summit County Fair.
- If severe weather or an emergency affects the Summit County Fair, please listen for public address announcements, and follow instructions from Summit County Fair personnel and public safety officials.
- There is a NO RUNNING policy while visiting the Summit County Fair
- Guests will enjoy every event free from disruptive behavior, including foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.
- Guests will consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner. Intervention with an impaired, intoxicated or underage guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner by public safety personnel
- Guests who engage in running, fighting, throwing objects or any other violent or offensive action will be immediately ejected from the Fairgrounds
- Smoking, including alternative smoking devices such as electronic and/or vapor, is only permitted in outside areas around the Fairgrounds
What is the fair’s safety and security plan?
The Summit County Fair’s security program includes walk-through metal detectors at all public entry gates. Bags, purses, coolers and packages will be subject to search at each of the Fair’s entrances. Our goal is to create a safe and secure environment for everyone – it is our number one priority. Our comprehensive public safety plan is developed and implemented in partnership with multiple agencies and experts at local, state and federal levels, and every part of our operation is continually evaluated and enhanced
What items are prohibited at the fair?
- Weapons of any kind, including but not limited to: firearms, knives, objects that appear to be weapons, pepper spray, mace, tasers, or other self-defense items.
- Fireworks or other explosive and flammable objects
- Outside alcoholic beverages or any illegal substance
- No Cannabis (Ohio Revised Code Section 3780.33 H (3)
- Drones or any remote-controlled toys
- Bikes, skateboards, skates, hoverboards
- Pets, including emotional support animals (Service animals allowed)
- Face coverings intended to conceal wearer’s identity (Religious and health reasons permitted)
- Aerosol Cans
- Glass Bottles
Other items may be refused at the discretion of the Fair management or law enforcement.
What is the fairs bag policy?
While visiting the Fair, all bags must be 9”x10”x12” or smaller. All bags are subject to search prior to entering the Fair.
- All bags larger than 9” x 10” x 12” will need to be returned to a vehicle or home before entering the Fairgrounds.
- Lockers are not available for those who arrive with oversized bags.
- Any prohibited items will be confiscated by Public Safety and will not be returned.
PERMITTED:
- All bags (clear, backpack, tote, camera) 9” x 10” x 12” or smaller will be permitted.
- Fairgoers are NOT limited to the number of bags smaller than 9” x 10” x 12” that they bring in, and all bags will be searched.
- Empty reusable bottles, cups, and souvenir cups will be permitted.
- Any carry-in items for family care, such as diaper bags, water or snacks for children, or medical reasons will be permitted – no medical proof or note needed.
Fairgoers are encouraged to leave unnecessary items at home. We realize this policy will change the way you prepare to come to the Fair and appreciate your flexibility and patience.
First Aid / EMS Center
12p.m. – 11 p.m.
Medical assistance is provided by Tallmadge Fire at the southwest corner of the grounds by the grandstand entrance across from the ride midway.
Lost and Found
Lost and found is turned into the main fair office located in the middle of the grounds. You can email the fair office summitcofair2@gmail.com to report a lost item.
Parking
Parking is free. There is a shuttle that runs in the parking lot Wednesday through Saturday 4:30 to 9:30 and Sunday from 2pm to 7pm. The shuttle is complementary but feel free to tip your wonderful volunteer shuttle driver. Our parking lot is manned by the Akron Roller Derby Team and they are volunteers so please be kind.
Pet Policy
Pets are not permitted on the grounds during the Fair with the exception of service dogs or animals approved as part of an exhibition or competition (such as livestock and 4-H events). Service animals are those that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Patrons attempting to bring non-service animals into the Fair, including emotional support, comfort, therapy, companion, and all other animals not included in the scope of service animals, will be asked to remove those animals from the Fair for the safety of our guests and the pets. Patrons with their service animals are responsible for cleaning up any animal waste.
Water Bottle Refill Stations
There is a drinking fountain located in our Arena Complex by the restroom. Water bottles can be refilled at these fountains.

Prohibited activities
Roving solicitations, vending, and selling are not permitted except when confined to a contracted booth or space. Picketing, protests, or other demonstrations are permitted in the designated protest zone North of the main entrance.
In regards to the Ohio law, fairgoers carrying a firearm/concealed or open, are only permitted in the outdoor parts of the Fairgrounds. With buildings having signs posted prohibiting the carrying of a weapon, concealed/open.
Who should I call in case of an emergency?
Call 911 for emergencies and to reach Dispatch Center for police, fire and medical.
UNACCOMPANIED MINOR POLICY
The Summit County Fair reserves the right to not allow any Fairgoers under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or chaperone (age 18)
Each adult may chaperone up to four (4) individuals and must remain at the Fairgrounds while the minors they are chaperoning are still present.
Any minors under the age of 18 not accompanied by an adult will not be admitted.
Any person entering may be asked to show a valid driver’s license, state identification card, or other government issued ID.
Does not apply to organized and ticketed group outings or those participating in competitions where existing chaperone procedures are in place.
