In 1957, the Summit County Agricultural Society was re-organized under the leadership of the Society’s President. Charles Call worked with the Summit County Commissioners to lease, to the Society 5 acres of land in Tallmadge. The Agricultural Society’s main purpose was to promote Summit County youth and their activities. On this site, Charles and Jean worked hard to build the foundation of the Society to grow, educate and always be a place for youth to learn and the community to enjoy. They donated the funds for the first building to be placed here. On this site, they along with society members and the Darrow Street Grange raised money through serving dinners at the fair to keep building and improving the grounds. They laid the foundation of our journey and growth and the Society is grateful and proud to call Charles and Jean founding members.
